You don’t need a teaching background to become an Special Religious Education teacher – just a heart for the gospel and a desire to share the good news with young minds. Here’s how to get started:

Complete Safe Ministry Training & a Safe Ministry Check

Hold a current Working With Children Check

Complete five modules of SRE Accreditation Training to equip you with the skills and confidence to teach the gospel (exemptions for teachers and theological training)

Fill out the SRE Accreditation and Criminal Conviction Declaration Forms
Become a Relief or Part-Time Teacher
We understand that life can be busy! You can still make an impact by becoming a relief or part-time SRE teacher. Whether you can fill in occasionally or share a class, your contribution will make a difference.
Become a Helper
Not ready to teach? Support an SRE teacher as a helper! You’ll assist in the classroom, build confidence, share your faith, and support gospel work.
To become a helper:

Become a Prayer Partner
It is God’s work to change and soften hearts, and open our minds to understand his Word (John 10:29). SRE teachers need spiritual support. Can you commit to praying for one of our teachers?
SRE Prayer Points:

Current SRE teachers: Pray for clarity, confidence, and encouragement as they deliver the gospel.

Future SRE teachers: Pray for more volunteers and that any barriers to teaching will be removed.

SRE students: Pray that God will open their hearts and minds to the gospel.

SRE families: Give thanks for their involvement and pray that God’s word grows in their lives.

Teachers and principals: Pray in thanks for their support and collaboration with SRE in schools.
