Love Your Neighbour

When asked which is the greatest commandment, Jesus said

“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
Mark 12:29-31

At Menai Anglican, we want to be using every season of life to be loving God and loving other people. Below are some ideas and resources for loving our neighbours, specifically in the season of lockdown and COVID restrictions.

To find out more and be put in touch with the coordinator of each ministry contact Margaret Icke.

Letterbox Cards for Neighbours

With stay-at-home orders in place, many of our neighbours might be feeling socially isolated, cut off from their usual supports, and finding it harder to manage the practicalities of life. A hand-written note or card offering help is a great way to offer support to your neighbours.

If you’re not sure what to write, here’s an example you could use:

Hello, my name is [your name] and I live at [house number and street]. Do you need help with anything at the moment? Perhaps someone to talk to? I wanted to leave this card to let you know that I’m more than happy to help out if needed. If you need a hand with grocery shopping, a pharmacy pick up, meals, someone to go for a walk with or anything else, please contact me on [phone number].

Alternatively, here’s a printable PDF version, just print on your home computer and write your name and contact info:

Why not take this opportunity to start an online chat group with the people in your street? The app “WhatsApp” is easy to use, secure and only requires a mobile number and smartphone.
