andrew.jpgAndrew’s parents first brought him to Menai Anglican Church before he could walk or talk and he’s been coming ever since. But until a few years ago he never imagined he’d be working here!

Andrew grew up in the area, went to Bangor Primary School, then Inaburra High School. He has a Bachelor of Commerce and worked for four years in financial planning. After a surf / mission trip to Bali he decided to change direction and head to Sydney Missionary and Bible College.

In Andrew’s final year of college, the Senior Ministers at Menai Anglican Church asked him to take up the role as Youth Pastor. After careful prayer and consideration, upon completion of his Masters of Divinity, Andrew felt confident that was where God was calling him to serve.

Andrew is married to Tara. When not working he loves surfing, skating, soccer, snowboarding watching movies and reading science fiction / fantasy books. He likes hanging out with mates, doing anything that involves the beach, and he’s always keen for a coffee!

Most of all Andrew loves talking to young people about Jesus and seeing them grow in their faith and love for who He is and what He has done to save them and give them a new life in Him.

Andrew can be contacted on (02)9541 0990 or by email at andrew(at)menaianglican.org

mary.jpgMatthew 18:5 ‘And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.’

Mary has known Jesus for as long as she can remember - growing up with church as an extension of her newly migrated family.

She began teaching Sunday School at the age of 14 and leading mid-week Kids Club and Holiday Clubs. Married at 18 to Wayne (who at that time was a prison officer and p/t professional wrestler) Mary pursued ministry to children in Mt Druitt; teaching SRE (scripture), Sunday School, mid-week clubs and youth ministry.

Mary began full time paid ministry in 2000 as a Ministry Advisor with Anglican Youth Works . She was a children’s Minister at Oakhurst Anglican and then Dapto Anglican.

Mary has a Diploma of Ministry and a Diploma of Theology and is excited to be in ministry with the children and leaders now here at Menai Anglican. “Menai Anglican has a long history of great children’s ministry and we have excellent teams of leaders. I am excited about the discipleship and outreach ministries planned here and for my new children’s ministry relationships with our neighbouring churches.”

Mary loves helping children come to faith and supporting parents in their role as the primary faith mentors. “There is nowhere I would rather be than helping children begin their life-long journey with the living God.”

marg.jpgMargaret is married to David and they have three children, Joanna (Jo), Thomas and Lydia. The family moved to the Sutherland Shire in 2008 after relocating from Hong Kong where they had lived for over 8 years.

“My world turned upside down when I was 21 years old as I came to understand full forgiveness through Jesus. My values and purpose of living changed so much that three years later, I decided to go to Sydney Missionary & Bible College to learn more about the Christian faith. It was the best thing I have ever done – besides marrying David!”

Margaret’s employment before going to Theological College was in retail and wholesale management which she believes has been such valuable training for her roles in church ministry both in Sydney (Cross Cultural Parish Worker at Campsie) and in Hong Kong (Director of Children and Family Ministry).
Margaret loves watching people grow in their journey with Jesus. She also loves sharing a good coffee with a friend, eating Dim Sum, going to the ballet, a fast walk and discovering new places!

anna.jpgAnna goes to Saturday Night Church. After a few years of corporate life, Anna is trading in her business suits for pyjamas until midday and heading back to uni. God has graciously given Anna the opportunity to work for our church one day a week in the process. Anna promises to wake up earlier on those days!

Having been involved in our junior high youth group, R87, for a number of years, Anna is really excited to join the staff team this year and be involved in scripture at Lucas Heights High School on Fridays and helping Andrew Hartman, our Youth Minister, with some of the youth ministry activity that keeps him so busy!

Anna loves youth ministry and being part of our church so it feels a little too good to be true to her that she has the opportunity to contribute in a new way this year to the community she loves so much.
